Beer Review: Southern Tier 2XIPA

by Kevin on September 7, 2010

Drink or Drain?

The second beer that I selected to consume from the IPA six-pack I created was Southern Tier’s 2XIPA.  This beer poured a very clear golden amber color with a thin layer of white head.  I smelt a lot of  piney and grapefruit like scents up front, as I stuck my nose in the glass. As I tasted this beer, there were a lot of hops  and orange zest present.  I didn’t really taste a lot of malt in this 8.2% ABV beer. The mouthfeel was very crisp and smooth, but seemed a little thin for an Imperial IPA.  Overall this was a very solid, easily drinkable beer that was brewed by the Southern Tier Brewing Company and would love to drink this beer everyday.
