Judgement Day and Damnation!

by Kyle W on June 9, 2011

While Judgement Day!!! was surprisingly? a bust this time around the beer I chose to enjoy as I awaited the end of the world was certainly not. At around 5:50 on May 21, I grabbed my Duvel tulip and a bottle of Russian River’s Damnation, walked into my backyard, grabbed a chair, and waited for the inevitable. The inevitable turned out to be another delicious brew by Russian River Brewing Company from California. According to their website, The Damnation is an interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth.

It poured a wonderful golden yellow into my tulip, with a mighty white head, smells of citrus, fruit and spice, with a matching taste and a refreshing dry finish. All in all a great beer for a warm day…and a great beer if your looking for that something special to pair with the impending apocalypse.

And as they say its better late than never…so if your trying to get yourself right before the “transformative” events that the Mayan calendar predicts for December 21, 2012 I recommend grabbing a Damnation and taking it all in stride.
